67th Annual Lummi Stommish Water Festival

This year, the people of the Salish Sea will join in celebrating 67 years of the world famous Lummi Stommish Water Festival -- June 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th & 16th, on the Lummi Indian reservation near Bellingham, WA. Stommish began back in 1946, when World War II veterans were coming home -- it was then that Lummi's World War I veterans decided to gather in celebration of their safe return. A Cowichan word meaning "warrior," Stommish has become an international renowned gathering which includes -- the "War Canoe races," a "Sla-hal Bone Game" tournament, and an "Honoring All Veterans" Pow Wow.
